The algae used in our Omega 3 is taken directly from the source, rather than through fish oils, making it a richer, cleaner, more sustainable form of Omega 3 than regular fish oils. Our algae is grown in a controlled environment which is 100% contaminant free. We use unpolluted fermentation pools to grow the algae, this means that we can monitor the purity of the algae we use, as well as ensure that we don’t damage the ocean ecosystem or reduce the main food source for fish.
Fish oils have come into question within the last few years due to their high levels of oxidation which cause them to go rancid. Oceans and rivers may also be contaminated with toxic pollutants such as polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), dioxins, and heavy metals, such as mercury, and consuming these can potentially counteract any beneficial effects provided by Omega 3.
Toxins and heavy metals can accumulate in fatty fish, which is why there are often health warnings surrounding the overconsumption of particular fish species in young people and pregnant or breastfeeding women.
